::[Robb]: And welcome to another show of Don't
Get This Twisted. I am Rob, along with my cohost
2
::[Robb]: as always, Tina. How you doing, Tina?
3
::[Tina m Garcia]: I'm doing really well. I'm
nursing a hangover, but I got this. Like we're
4
::[Tina m Garcia]: good.
5
::[Robb]: Very good. Very good.
6
::[Tina m Garcia]: From
7
::[Robb]: Nothing
8
::[Tina m Garcia]: two days
9
::[Robb]: wrong with that.
10
::[Tina m Garcia]: ago. Ha ha ha.
11
::[Robb]: It's
12
::[Tina m Garcia]: Ha
13
::[Robb]: alright.
14
::[Tina m Garcia]: ha
15
::[Robb]: Well
16
::[Tina m Garcia]: ha.
17
::[Robb]: mother, you know, you know, obviously
Both me and you didn't have to do anything
18
::[Robb]: yesterday for Mother's Day
19
::[Tina m Garcia]: No. As a matter of fact, I
didn't do shit but basket weave with my
20
::[Robb]: Yeah,
21
::[Tina m Garcia]: cousins. We went
22
::[Robb]: it
23
::[Tina m Garcia]: and got
24
::[Robb]: is.
25
::[Tina m Garcia]: burgers and then we sat around
the table and did some baskets.
26
::[Robb]: It was a rough one for me yesterday.
I think I had my first like,
27
::[Tina m Garcia]: You're doing the
28
::[Robb]: oh
29
::[Tina m Garcia]: first
30
::[Robb]: yeah. Yeah.
31
::[Tina m Garcia]: of everything, yeah.
32
::[Robb]: And then my mom's birthday's on the
24th, so I get the double whammy in one month,
33
::[Robb]: but.
34
::[Tina m Garcia]: So what are you going through?
35
::[Robb]: I mean just you know just that thought
of like oh, yeah, like I don't I don't have
36
::[Robb]: mom around anymore And didn't have to
call her and and then the other weird thing
37
::[Robb]: is like I've bought flowers for a friend
of mine, so
38
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
39
::[Robb]: I get all these Emails, but this one
was all mothers driven, so I was like oh, yeah,
40
::[Robb]: yeah Great gotta love that, but
41
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
42
::[Robb]: I'm alright. It was just I think it
was more just a little more reality hit like
43
::[Robb]: oh You know kind of a I think it was
more that than anything. I wasn't like down
44
::[Robb]: or depressed, because I think I've already
gone through that major thing. It was more
45
::[Robb]: just like, oh yeah, like,
46
::[Tina m Garcia]: a hole in your life.
47
::[Robb]: yeah, like this sucks. But it was cool,
because I think I looked back on all the things
48
::[Robb]: I read online, like people that were
just celebrating still, and that's good, like
49
::[Robb]: you still have your mom, awesome. Like
my friend down the street, I said, hey, make
50
::[Robb]: sure when you see your mom you give
her a hug,
51
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yes.
52
::[Robb]: because she doesn't have her father.
So, and I still have dad. So, you know, it's
53
::[Robb]: those things where you're just gonna
have to, you're just gonna looking back on,
54
::[Robb]: oh yeah. But
55
::[Tina m Garcia]: You have
56
::[Robb]: it
57
::[Tina m Garcia]: a
58
::[Robb]: was,
59
::[Tina m Garcia]: different perspective, for
sure.
60
::[Robb]: yeah. Well, and one that I didn't have
for a long time because
61
::[Tina m Garcia]: Right, right.
62
::[Robb]: a lot of friends around me had already
lost their parents. So,
63
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah,
64
::[Robb]: just one of those things.
65
::[Tina m Garcia]: but you're not supposed to
know until you know, you know what
66
::[Robb]: Thank goodness.
67
::[Tina m Garcia]: I mean? You're it's not I have
a friend. She always feels bad. She's like,
68
::[Tina m Garcia]: I wish I knew what you guys
were going through. And I always say, don't
69
::[Robb]: No, no you
70
::[Tina m Garcia]: you
71
::[Robb]: don't.
72
::[Tina m Garcia]: don't want to wish that like
you don't want to have those thoughts. You
73
::[Tina m Garcia]: don't want to go through that.
You you'll go through it when you have to.
74
::[Tina m Garcia]: And we'll
75
::[Robb]: Yeah.
76
::[Tina m Garcia]: be there to support you because
we will all already have done it. But
77
::[Robb]: Yeah, for sure.
78
::[Tina m Garcia]: you got to be you. You got
to be grateful with what is
79
::[Robb]: It's like
80
::[Tina m Garcia]: because.
81
::[Robb]: divorce.
82
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
83
::[Robb]: Like when people go,
84
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
85
::[Robb]: well you know, I wish I kinda knew what
you were going through. No you don't, that
86
::[Robb]: shit is awful. Like
87
::[Tina m Garcia]: It is,
88
::[Robb]: you
89
::[Tina m Garcia]: yeah.
90
::[Robb]: don't wanna go through that shit. It's
91
::[Tina m Garcia]: It is, but
92
::[Robb]: not
93
::[Tina m Garcia]: then
94
::[Robb]: good.
95
::[Tina m Garcia]: yesterday I didn't make a phone
call. I didn't do anything for anyone else.
96
::[Tina m Garcia]: I sat around and did what I
wanted, you know, so in that respect I was
97
::[Tina m Garcia]: let off the hook. So,
98
::[Robb]: Yeah.
99
::[Tina m Garcia]: but my mom's also been gone,
I think it's gonna be like 13 years now.
100
::[Robb]: Yeah. So
101
::[Tina m Garcia]: So...
102
::[Robb]: it's funny because we're going to talk
about, we're going to talk about shower thoughts
103
::[Robb]: and like
104
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
105
::[Robb]: crazy things that we, that I think all
of us do in the shower, but before, make sure
106
::[Robb]: you check out our socials, all that
kind of stuff and subscribe to the show on
107
::[Robb]: all the major platforms. We're going
to, we're going to cut it off easy today. But
108
::[Robb]: like
109
::[Tina m Garcia]: Hahaha
110
::[Robb]: shower thoughts that are kind of funny,
but we're talking about like dealing with things.
111
::[Robb]: And my friend down the street over here,
I use an analogy using Shawshank Redemption
112
::[Robb]: as
113
::[Tina m Garcia]: Okay.
114
::[Robb]: an analogy when he kind of has to crawl
through the pipe and she has never seen it.
115
::[Robb]: And I was
116
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm
117
::[Robb]: like, you haven't seen, how have you
not seen Shawshank Redemption? So hopefully
118
::[Robb]: if she listens to the show this coming
week. sit down and watch Shawshank Redemption.
119
::[Robb]: You'll get the analogy of going through
the pipe and how that's kind of a metaphor
120
::[Robb]: for life, I think. Sometimes we gotta
crawl through a bunch of shit to get it clean
121
::[Robb]: on the other end.
122
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
123
::[Robb]: So,
124
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah, but I think it's your
perception of what shit is that
125
::[Robb]: no,
126
::[Tina m Garcia]: makes it easier hard for sure.
127
::[Robb]: exactly, or yeah, or sometimes it just
is shit, and not, you know, not for real shit,
128
::[Robb]: but something that's just super hard
that you have to deal with, and we all gotta
129
::[Robb]: deal with it, whether it's, you know,
death of a family member, or divorce, or a
130
::[Robb]: major breakup, whatever it is. We all
go through these things that... are shitty.
131
::[Robb]: So, you know, it
132
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
133
::[Robb]: happens.
134
::[Tina m Garcia]: It does.
135
::[Robb]: It could be something simple, like a
car accident where no one gets hurt or nothing
136
::[Robb]: happens, but it's still shitty to have
to go through the insurance process, getting
137
::[Robb]: your car fixed or whatever. So, it's
relative, I think. Your shitty life is relative
138
::[Robb]: to whatever you think shitty is.
139
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's
140
::[Robb]: So,
141
::[Tina m Garcia]: true. It's all perception.
142
::[Robb]: yeah, for sure. So, shower thoughts.
Um, it's kind of funny because I use that term
143
::[Robb]: quite often because I think that we
all go through these little Crazy benders of
144
::[Robb]: like you're in the shower and either
Something you hear on the way in Something
145
::[Robb]: you read a meme or whatever put your
phone down jumping a shower because I can't
146
::[Robb]: see because I wear glasses so Regardless
once I take my glasses off I'm totally screwed
147
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
148
::[Robb]: even if my Even if my phone gets a text
message, I gotta jump out, put my glasses on.
149
::[Robb]: So my shower thoughts are kinda funny
because I told you I had a shower thought because
150
::[Robb]: I write poetry. So I had a shower thought
one morning. Kinda had this idea of what I
151
::[Robb]: wanted to write. So I kept kinda telling
myself in the corner, like, okay, do this,
152
::[Robb]: do that. I wanna write this. and I'm
like trying to wash myself off and get out
153
::[Robb]: of the shower, right? So I jump out,
I throw a towel around me, and I write this
154
::[Robb]: poem. And it's quite long. It's probably
15 or 16 lines long. Like it's a paragraph.
155
::[Robb]: But I did it all and I finished it and
then went back to doing my routine. I ended
156
::[Robb]: up sending that to somebody that same
morning. just as a hey, and it was a guy at
157
::[Robb]: my work, Tom. And I sent it to this
guy, and he was like, dude, that's really cool,
158
::[Robb]: man, where'd you get that from? And
I was like, oh, I wrote it this morning. And
159
::[Robb]: he was like, yeah, like, where'd you
get it? And I go, no, dude, I really wrote
160
::[Robb]: it this morning. So when I went in to
work, I pulled it up on my notes, my Apple
161
::[Robb]: notes, and I was like, see, I wrote
it. And he was like, holy shit, like, you really
162
::[Robb]: did. I was like, oh yeah. So I think
we all have those shower thoughts, whether
163
::[Robb]: they're good or bad, or. And I mean
shower thoughts where it can be literally anything.
164
::[Robb]: Sometimes you just need to go in the
shower and I hate to say scream, but even though
165
::[Robb]: you're not screaming, you're screaming.
Like sometimes
166
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mmm. I did
167
::[Robb]: it's
168
::[Tina m Garcia]: a lot of crying in the shower
the last couple years of my marriage. A lot.
169
::[Tina m Garcia]: I said that I was like I don't
have thoughts like that in the shower. Oh yes
170
::[Tina m Garcia]: I do.
171
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
172
::[Tina m Garcia]: A lot of them but I guess I
just kind of put them out of my mind.
173
::[Robb]: I've been a little crying in the shower,
up and down throughout the last couple of years
174
::[Robb]: as well, where you're just, whatever
it is. Like I said, sometimes it can just be
175
::[Robb]: a stressful thing, like
176
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
177
::[Robb]: something that's just so, it beats you
up in the morning, and sometimes you just gotta.
178
::[Robb]: And
179
::[Robb]: I'm very female-like when it comes to
showering. I like to shower in the blistering
180
::[Robb]: lake where it just blisters your skin
up while you're in the shower. At least a lot
181
::[Robb]: of the females I know, they take the
hottest showers. And sometimes I'll just sit
182
::[Robb]: in there and just be like, okay, or
whatever it is I'm trying to get going for
183
::[Robb]: the day.
184
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
185
::[Robb]: Like to me sometimes it's just a motivational
place.
186
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
187
::[Robb]: Like I have to sit in there and go,
okay bro, like we're gonna be all right today.
188
::[Robb]: Like I know yesterday was complete dog
shit. Let's just gear up, get going. When you
189
::[Robb]: get out of here, everything's gonna
be okay. Cause I have two different shifts.
190
::[Robb]: So for me, I either work seven to four
or eight to five. But I get up early in the
191
::[Robb]: morning regardless. So I get up at like
four or something in the morning every day.
192
::[Robb]: So when I worked the seven o'clock shift,
my shower thoughts are pretty quick because
193
::[Robb]: I gotta
194
::[Tina m Garcia]: Hehehehe
195
::[Robb]: bust ass and get going. Like I can't
sit around. But on
196
::[Tina m Garcia]: Right.
197
::[Robb]: the eight to five days, like I got time
to just, I hate to say waste, but I do. Like
198
::[Robb]: I'm ready to go by 5.30 and I don't
have to leave my house till seven. So I'll
199
::[Tina m Garcia]: Nice.
200
::[Robb]: go out, I'll sit around, I grab my phone
if I need to write something down or if I need
201
::[Robb]: to kind of. do something while I'm home.
And then I have like a good, I don't know,
202
::[Robb]: 30, 40 minutes where I sometimes even
longer. Sometimes I watch my, my show, whenever
203
::[Robb]: my show of of the moment is I'll sit
down and watch it. Like I'm watching, I've
204
::[Robb]: been watching Ted Lasso and it's about
45 minutes to an hour show. It all is relative.
205
::[Robb]: So I'll watch that in the morning. And
I like that cause it's kind of gives me that
206
::[Robb]: I, get up, do all my shit and then,
ooh. Or whatever I'm doing in the shower, like
207
::[Robb]: my shower thought can get me going in
the day. So I think for me, like I do a lot
208
::[Robb]: of thinking in the shower because it's
that one place of solace where I guess you're
209
::[Robb]: just kind of alone with your own mind
for a second or two, even though you are doing
210
::[Robb]: stuff. Mostly if you have a lot of hair.
Like when I had really long hair, man, like
211
::[Robb]: showers took a while to get in. And
I had horribly curly hair, so to condition
212
::[Robb]: my hair took a little bit. Now that
I have short ass hair, it's like if I really
213
::[Robb]: hurry, I can get in and out of the shower,
and I'm not joking, in under 10 minutes.
214
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
215
::[Robb]: Jump in, wash my hair, wash my bits,
and jump out. But most of my mornings, I say
216
::[Robb]: I probably take about a 15 minute shower,
maybe a little longer, but I do have, I have
217
::[Robb]: a lot of shower thoughts. So, it's a
good place for me mostly.
218
::[Tina m Garcia]: Nice.
219
::[Robb]: But there are things where if I'm going
through something or something is on my mind,
220
::[Robb]: those are the ones that kind of haunt
me in the shower.
221
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
222
::[Robb]: But
223
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
224
::[Robb]: they haunt me anyway.
225
::[Tina m Garcia]: Heh heh heh.
226
::[Robb]: Years ago, I had very, very bad issues
sleeping. And I mean, like horribly bad. If
227
::[Robb]: I woke up, I would dream about things
and then they would wake me up at like three
228
::[Robb]: in the morning and I would be up the
rest of the day.
229
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mmm.
230
::[Robb]: I just could not go back to sleep.
231
::[Tina m Garcia]: Wow.
232
::[Robb]: Yeah, it was horrible. But once I moved
where I live now, things kind of settled down.
233
::[Robb]: I think maybe my head settled a little
bit and I sleep way better where I'm at now.
234
::[Robb]: And not that where I lived before was
the problem, it was my head that was the problem.
235
::[Tina m Garcia]: I get that.
236
::[Robb]: But the shower thoughts are very similar
to that, where it... If something's on my mind,
237
::[Robb]: I really take it in places where I'm
alone.
238
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah, no, that's what I do.
I think a lot of people do that. It's better
239
::[Tina m Garcia]: to go through it alone and
where else are you ever alone? Because I can't
240
::[Tina m Garcia]: go anywhere without somebody
being around, looking around, calling
241
::[Robb]: Right.
242
::[Tina m Garcia]: around. But if I'm in the shower,
that's like my time. And I kinda like that.
243
::[Robb]: Yeah,
244
::[Tina m Garcia]: But
245
::[Robb]: it's a s-
246
::[Tina m Garcia]: my biggest thought in the shower
was, damn, this feels good. Like, I have that
247
::[Tina m Garcia]: thought,
248
::[Robb]: Yeah?
249
::[Tina m Garcia]: I have that awe moment every
time I get in the shower.
250
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm,
251
::[Tina m Garcia]: every time.
252
::[Robb]: but I think that that is because it's
that one place where you relax
253
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
254
::[Robb]: For even though, you know, it's not
for a long period of time It's that
255
::[Tina m Garcia]: The feeling of the water just
running down your body is so relaxing. It's
256
::[Tina m Garcia]: peaceful, but it's energizing
at the same time. I love being clean. There's
257
::[Tina m Garcia]: nothing like it. So
258
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm,
259
::[Tina m Garcia]: I don't know, that's
260
::[Robb]: that
261
::[Tina m Garcia]: like
262
::[Robb]: is true
263
::[Tina m Garcia]: my, that's my ah place.
264
::[Robb]: Yeah,
265
::[Tina m Garcia]: Always has been.
266
::[Robb]: it's because you can disappear for a
few minutes. And like I said, whatever the
267
::[Robb]: thought is, like shower thoughts to
me can also be like people who sing in the
268
::[Robb]: shower. Like these
269
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
270
::[Robb]: are things that are just going through
your mind.
271
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
272
::[Robb]: And it's funny to me what things from
the past will jump into your head. Like
273
::[Tina m Garcia]: Oh yeah.
274
::[Robb]: a song that you might not have heard
in 20 years.
275
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
276
::[Robb]: and all of a sudden this little door
in your head goes, eeeeh, hey, remember this
277
::[Robb]: cool song you liked? And then you're
like, bum bum
278
::[Tina m Garcia]: and
279
::[Robb]: bum
280
::[Tina m Garcia]: you could
281
::[Robb]: bum
282
::[Tina m Garcia]: see
283
::[Robb]: bum
284
::[Tina m Garcia]: her
285
::[Robb]: bum
286
::[Tina m Garcia]: face.
287
::[Robb]: bum bum. Yeah.
288
::[Tina m Garcia]: The song where you can see
the face.
289
::[Robb]: And you're like, and then, and what's
great now, like, you know, we talked about
290
::[Robb]: before about how shitty cell phones
were, and
291
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
292
::[Robb]: yes, they are absolutely horrible most
of the time, but it is nice to be able to get
293
::[Robb]: out and find a song in a matter of minutes
that can take you back to
294
::[Tina m Garcia]: Absolutely.
295
::[Robb]: whatever time period that you were having
your shower thought about. So I find it kind
296
::[Robb]: of interesting that Maybe it is that
you're relaxed in the shower that brings up
297
::[Robb]: these things.
298
::[Tina m Garcia]: or not distracted maybe.
299
::[Robb]: That could be as well.
300
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's the only place I'm not
distracted.
301
::[Robb]: Yeah, and you're always around people,
like always
302
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
303
::[Robb]: around people. So
304
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
305
::[Robb]: I can see why that is kind of your place
of refuge, where you can just kind of be like,
306
::[Robb]: okay, for 15 or 20 minutes, just leave
me the hell alone.
307
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm. You can't have a damn
dirty thought if you're not by yourself
308
::[Robb]: That's a good
309
::[Tina m Garcia]: I could
310
::[Robb]: well.
311
::[Tina m Garcia]: go a long time and I'm like,
wait a minute. Everybody should have dirty
312
::[Tina m Garcia]: thoughts I'm a I'm a believer
in those, you know, and I'm like fuck I can't
313
::[Tina m Garcia]: even have a damn dirty thought
I can't get away from people
314
::[Robb]: Yeah,
315
::[Tina m Garcia]: so
316
::[Robb]: I mean that is a good
317
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah
318
::[Robb]: point. See, I have dirty thoughts all
the time, so it's just a matter of who I'm
319
::[Robb]: texting at the time.
320
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mmm,
321
::[Robb]: Because
322
::[Tina m Garcia]: dirty.
323
::[Robb]: yeah, I can get in trouble because there's
one that can get me in a lot of trouble, a
324
::[Robb]: lot. I text this person one time when
I was at work and they were at a funeral.
325
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm. Oh no.
326
::[Robb]: Yeah, it was an interesting afternoon,
needless to say. So yeah, you're right, dirty
327
::[Robb]: thoughts, I think, shower thoughts and
dirty thoughts. Maybe that's why young men
328
::[Robb]: in the morning take such long showers.
329
::[Tina m Garcia]: Maybe, you're
330
::[Robb]: Maybe.
331
::[Tina m Garcia]: right. Maybe, yes, sure, maybe.
332
::[Robb]: Yeah.
333
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's exactly why they're
in there.
334
::[Robb]: Yeah, well
335
::[Tina m Garcia]: But
336
::[Robb]: mostly
337
::[Tina m Garcia]: good for
338
::[Robb]: young,
339
::[Tina m Garcia]: them that
340
::[Robb]: mostly young
341
::[Tina m Garcia]: they
342
::[Robb]: dudes.
343
::[Tina m Garcia]: want to do that.
344
::[Robb]: Yeah, well, well, because in the old
days there was no other place to.
345
::[Tina m Garcia]: All right?
346
::[Robb]: You know what I mean? Like heaven forbid
347
::[Tina m Garcia]: But you couldn't,
348
::[Robb]: you're.
349
::[Tina m Garcia]: you didn't have a private phone
conversation either.
350
::[Robb]: That's true. Yeah. I mean, you could,
I mean, my house I did because my dad was,
351
::[Robb]: he wasn't like, he wouldn't pick up
the phone. He'd rarely talk to human beings
352
::[Robb]: except
353
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
354
::[Robb]: for people he was related to. So like
I was always on the phone and I could be by
355
::[Robb]: myself, but I think it was more, uh,
you know, the, the, the shower thing was, was
356
::[Robb]: more just, it was the one place you
couldn't get walked in on.
357
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
358
::[Robb]: So, and I think You know, and I guess
shower thoughts could be shower sex. I mean,
359
::[Robb]: if we're really gonna go down that road,
360
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's
361
::[Robb]: it is
362
::[Tina m Garcia]: a
363
::[Robb]: a
364
::[Tina m Garcia]: stretch
365
::[Robb]: thought.
366
::[Tina m Garcia]: though, don't you think? I
mean, you could think about sex, but that's
367
::[Tina m Garcia]: a whole different story, I
think.
368
::[Robb]: Yeah, I guess so. I'm just stretching
it out a bit.
369
::[Tina m Garcia]: But stretch out whatever you
got to Rob.
370
::[Robb]: Yeah, I mean, and man, and in the shower,
and in the shower, it's
371
::[Tina m Garcia]: And in
372
::[Robb]: not,
373
::[Tina m Garcia]: the shower it's okay.
374
::[Robb]: it's, but, well, and if you are with
somebody, boy, you're stretching or moving
375
::[Robb]: or putting your leg up here or there,
so that is kinda
376
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's
377
::[Robb]: true.
378
::[Tina m Garcia]: true.
379
::[Robb]: Yeah,
380
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's,
381
::[Robb]: that's.
382
::[Tina m Garcia]: when I'm in the shower, that's
where I think of all the things I have to do
383
::[Tina m Garcia]: that day.
384
::[Robb]: That's what
385
::[Tina m Garcia]: Like
386
::[Robb]: I mean.
387
::[Tina m Garcia]: what my schedule is,
388
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
389
::[Tina m Garcia]: who I need to call, what's
going on with my, you know, certain people
390
::[Tina m Garcia]: in my life if they're having
a tough time, if I need to reach out or, you
391
::[Tina m Garcia]: know, there's a family reunion
that needs to be planned. That's where
392
::[Robb]: Oh,
393
::[Tina m Garcia]: I do all my thoughts.
394
::[Robb]: right.
395
::[Tina m Garcia]: And that takes up probably
most of the shower. But I do take that awe
396
::[Tina m Garcia]: moment where I'm- just like
he is.
397
::[Robb]: Well, and I think in your space, in
your job, like you have, you could probably
398
::[Robb]: have a day where you have two clients,
and then you can have one where you have 10.
399
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
400
::[Robb]: So like there is a lot to kind of think
about. In my case, like my, even if I'm thinking
401
::[Robb]: of work, it's make sure I'm on time,
because my work is always kind of a roller
402
::[Robb]: coaster. It's who
403
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
404
::[Robb]: calls in to get what they want. In your
case, you have these certain things. So like,
405
::[Robb]: I can see where shower time might be
that, like you're doing your thing and you're
406
::[Robb]: going, okay, I gotta do this, I gotta
make sure I call this person. And then there's
407
::[Robb]: the rock that gets thrown at you, like,
oh shit, I forgot to do this.
408
::[Tina m Garcia]: Hmm?
409
::[Robb]: See, I hate that shower thought. I hate
the, oh man, I was supposed to, or.
410
::[Tina m Garcia]: I remember when my grandfather
and my grandmother were alive and they were
411
::[Tina m Garcia]: sick and my mom was also sick
and I was always running from one doctor to
412
::[Tina m Garcia]: the next and trying to keep
this situation separate from that situation
413
::[Tina m Garcia]: because they were, you know,
they were different types of unhealthy and
414
::[Tina m Garcia]: different things going on and
raising a kid and being a softball coach and
415
::[Tina m Garcia]: trying to do my business. Oh,
and I had a husband at the time. Like there
416
::[Tina m Garcia]: was still food to make. mail
to to drop off and dry cleaning to pick up
417
::[Tina m Garcia]: like I remember shower thoughts
when I was at the peak of being married were
418
::[Tina m Garcia]: were so um they were chaotic
it was just like this is what you have to do
419
::[Tina m Garcia]: make a plan let's stick to
it and and trying like you said you make a
420
::[Tina m Garcia]: list or you get out and you
and you write stuff down like I just kept it
421
::[Tina m Garcia]: in my head because there was
no freaking way I You know, like this, this
422
::[Robb]: Yeah,
423
::[Tina m Garcia]: is my time, you know?
424
::[Robb]: this is
425
::[Tina m Garcia]: So,
426
::[Robb]: too nice.
427
::[Tina m Garcia]: yeah, this is my safe place.
I'm not leaving here.
428
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
429
::[Tina m Garcia]: But then being a mom, you either
get an animal knocking at the door or you get
430
::[Tina m Garcia]: a kid coming in because they
need lunch money or, you know, whatever it
431
::[Tina m Garcia]: is. So,
432
::[Robb]: Oh yeah.
433
::[Tina m Garcia]: I don't know. Like for me,
I really appreciate shower time now because
434
::[Tina m Garcia]: I'm only taking care of me.
and I get to just look at what I'm dealing
435
::[Tina m Garcia]: with and what I'm doing, which
I've never really had that in my life, because
436
::[Tina m Garcia]: I was always taking care of
everybody else, but
437
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
438
::[Tina m Garcia]: I've appreciated that time
that I've got to myself. But now my dad's starting
439
::[Tina m Garcia]: to have health issues, and
so I'm gonna be going with him to all of his
440
::[Tina m Garcia]: appointments. So it's like
the cycle continues,
441
::[Robb]: Sure.
442
::[Tina m Garcia]: but I was grateful to get the
break or I could be in the shower just going.
443
::[Tina m Garcia]: Everything's okay, I can relax.
444
::[Robb]: Right.
445
::[Tina m Garcia]: Let the water run down my head
some more, you know?
446
::[Robb]: See, I was a bath person for that,
447
::[Tina m Garcia]: Over you?
448
::[Robb]: but now I don't have a bathtub, so now
it
449
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
450
::[Robb]: has to be. But before, oh yeah, it was
more tub thoughts. Like I would run
451
::[Tina m Garcia]: I'm going
452
::[Robb]: the
453
::[Tina m Garcia]: to
454
::[Robb]: hottest
455
::[Tina m Garcia]: go to bed.
456
::[Robb]: bath I could feasibly get into and just
push and just sit there and literally disappear.
457
::[Robb]: Like put on
458
::[Tina m Garcia]: Hmm.
459
::[Robb]: music and just close my eyes and think
of whatever, whatever came to. to my head and
460
::[Robb]: I think that now, obviously where I
don't have a tub, I do the same in the shower
461
::[Robb]: in the morning, but I think I kind of
lose myself in the shower. I don't, I try not
462
::[Robb]: to think of the bad. I think I kind
of like you where it's like, okay, what am
463
::[Robb]: I doing today? Where am I at? You know,
what can be good or what can be better? That's
464
::[Robb]: kind of what I'm trying to do now,
465
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
466
::[Robb]: trying to be a little more positive
in the morning.
467
::[Tina m Garcia]: That's good.
468
::[Robb]: Yeah, well, I mean, I think in general,
I think we all need to try to be a little more
469
::[Robb]: positive.
470
::[Tina m Garcia]: I'd agree.
471
::[Robb]: Even though the world is what it is,
and whatever that means to you, I think that
472
::[Robb]: there's a lot to that. It's not that
it's on fire, but it's definitely not the greatest.
473
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
474
::[Robb]: But I think...
475
::[Tina m Garcia]: But yet it's not that bad either,
you know? It's
476
::[Robb]: No,
477
::[Tina m Garcia]: like, I'm pretty
478
::[Robb]: exactly.
479
::[Tina m Garcia]: freakin' lucky right now. Yeah.
480
::[Robb]: There's always good and bad.
481
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
482
::[Robb]: My thing is to try to not let the bad
bury you.
483
::[Tina m Garcia]: Right?
484
::[Robb]: And it's hard. It's hard. But
485
::[Tina m Garcia]: It
486
::[Robb]: you know,
487
::[Tina m Garcia]: is.
488
::[Robb]: a nice hot shower will kind of make
that go away.
489
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
490
::[Robb]: And I've been trying to really kind
of, my morning shower, I try to take two showers
491
::[Robb]: now. I try to take. The morning shower
is my quickie, kinda get in, get out, do my
492
::[Robb]: thing, and my night shower is the one
that I try to relax and enjoy a little bit
493
::[Robb]: more, because I think it's, I've been
trying to gear down earlier to where I'm not
494
::[Robb]: trying to do a lot on the phone. If
I watch whatever quote unquote TV show that
495
::[Robb]: I'm watching at the time,
496
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
497
::[Robb]: I,
498
::[Robb]: I try to just settle down and be done
for that last half an hour.
499
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
500
::[Robb]: And it's been better for me because
again, lack of sleep is the death of you. So
501
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
502
::[Robb]: if you can take a hot shower and get
those muscles kind of just relaxed and it's
503
::[Robb]: great. I've been doing way better with
that format in my life.
504
::[Tina m Garcia]: Good.
505
::[Robb]: And it's helped with my release of writing.
So I might come out of the shower a lot more
506
::[Robb]: now with ideas than I probably did before.
507
::[Tina m Garcia]: Okay.
508
::[Robb]: Which is really cool, because like I
said, I'm gonna write another poem book. And
509
::[Robb]: I think it's kind of a roller coaster
one this time. I mean, obviously. A lot of
510
::[Robb]: it's kind of lovey-dovey shit, but that's
just because that's how I am as a writer. But
511
::[Robb]: some of it's personal, and what's kind
of going on in life in general. So those shower
512
::[Robb]: thoughts have been really good to me
lately. I have probably, for me it's hard to
513
::[Robb]: say, most of the things that I've written
have been about 200 pages. Give
514
::[Tina m Garcia]: Okay.
515
::[Robb]: or take, I'm probably already about
17 or 18 poems in which is really good because
516
::[Robb]: I haven't really been dedicating myself
to it as much as I thought I was gonna do it.
517
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
518
::[Robb]: I think they just kind of roll with
me. So my shower thoughts have been very good
519
::[Robb]: to me.
520
::[Tina m Garcia]: Good.
521
::[Robb]: Do you think most people have these
kind of 20 minute leisure times in the morning?
522
::[Robb]: Do you think
523
::[Tina m Garcia]: No.
524
::[Robb]: it's, you don't think it's as common
as we're talking?
525
::[Tina m Garcia]: No, I don't think that that
kind of time is is common at all anymore. Like
526
::[Tina m Garcia]: it's we kind of run our our
schedules to the limit. So I don't know if
527
::[Tina m Garcia]: anybody really like has that
type of time that they could allocate it to
528
::[Tina m Garcia]: just taking a shower just you
know being in the bathroom.
529
::[Robb]: Which is too bad.
530
::[Tina m Garcia]: It totally is. It should be
mandatory.
531
::[Robb]: Yeah, because I think we're losing sight
of some things. And the other thing about shower
532
::[Robb]: thoughts, or shower time, however we
want to put this, I've also learned that, like
533
::[Robb]: aroma is a very important
534
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
535
::[Robb]: part of that. I don't know if you've
ever heard of Dr. Squatch. It's a
536
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-mm.
537
::[Robb]: male soap.
538
::[Tina m Garcia]: Oh yeah, I have, I have.
539
::[Robb]: You'll see the commercials. It's
540
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
541
::[Robb]: handmade. It's not cheap. It's like
$7 a bar. It is the greatest soap ever. It
542
::[Robb]: has like, it's pretty strong aroma.
It like, it has a little gritty in it, so it
543
::[Robb]: exfoliates you. But it's,
544
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm
545
::[Robb]: I found myself to where the more aroma
in that, in your shower time is definitely
546
::[Robb]: a, a great booster. Like it's something
that, and I hate to say punches you in the
547
::[Robb]: face, but it is like that first, that
first breath of aroma and then maybe that hot
548
::[Robb]: steam that hits you. Like to me, it
is kind of eye opening. It reminds me of like
549
::[Robb]: that old Irish spring commercial. Like,
it was like
550
::[Tina m Garcia]: I knew
551
::[Robb]: the
552
::[Tina m Garcia]: you
553
::[Robb]: guy,
554
::[Tina m Garcia]: were going to say that.
555
::[Robb]: the guy would smell the bar in his eyes,
but it would open up really wide.
556
::[Tina m Garcia]: Right?
557
::[Robb]: But I think there is something to that.
that will drive these shower thoughts, because
558
::[Robb]: aroma puts you in a good mood.
559
::[Tina m Garcia]: And that's the quickest way
to a memory is by smelling it. Like
560
::[Robb]: Hmm?
561
::[Tina m Garcia]: it really is. I go into the
grocery store around Halloween and I smell
562
::[Tina m Garcia]: the cinnamon brooms. My mom
always had a cinnamon broom in our house. And
563
::[Tina m Garcia]: so every time I go in, I'm
like, oh, it's mom's time of year, you know?
564
::[Robb]: Yeah.
565
::[Tina m Garcia]: I was having... Mm-hmm.
566
::[Robb]: And that's good. And I think that there
is something to that. I got this stupid, well
567
::[Robb]: stupid, I shouldn't say that. I was
at the supermarket the other day and I needed
568
::[Robb]: to buy shampoo. And I'm pretty generic,
I don't care. As long as it cleans my hair
569
::[Robb]: and conditions a little bit and does
its job. So I'm walking through and I see it
570
::[Robb]: and it says like green apple or some
kind of apple. I was like, whatever, I'll just
571
::[Robb]: grab it. What the hell? I get it home
and I'm like getting the shower this morning.
572
::[Robb]: I'm like, Oh man, that is super awesome.
It really smells like green apples.
573
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
574
::[Robb]: So it was one of those things where
like, that was the first thing this morning
575
::[Robb]: that I got into my, you know, senses
that hit me really hard. It's just, Ooh, yeah.
576
::[Robb]: And, and again, I, I think I walked
out this morning and either, I got a title
577
::[Robb]: for a poem or the first couple of lines.
So my shower thoughts are important to me pretty
578
::[Robb]: much daily.
579
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm. You know what's funny
is you talk about smells and showers. When
580
::[Tina m Garcia]: I was a kid growing up, one
of my favorite cousins, Mona, she would be
581
::[Tina m Garcia]: like, I'm gonna take a shower
and then you're gonna take a shower and we're
582
::[Tina m Garcia]: gonna get ready to go. You
know, that's what she always set it up like
583
::[Tina m Garcia]: that. And the smell when she
got out of the shower, I don't know what she
584
::[Tina m Garcia]: used on her body or on her
hair or whatever, but that smell to this day
585
::[Tina m Garcia]: stays in my head. And like
if I go to If I go to where she's living and
586
::[Tina m Garcia]: I go there, I'm like, oh my
God, she still smells like her. You know,
587
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
588
::[Tina m Garcia]: it's a, I don't know why I
thought of that, but it's a smell that's kind
589
::[Tina m Garcia]: of stuck. And when I, every
time I smell it, I think of her and she was
590
::[Tina m Garcia]: just like the coolest cousin
when we were growing up. So I don't know, whenever
591
::[Tina m Garcia]: I catch that smell, I think
of her, but it's a shower smell of all
592
::[Robb]: Sure.
593
::[Tina m Garcia]: things. I don't know.
594
::[Robb]: I think for
595
::[Tina m Garcia]: She had
596
::[Robb]: me is.
597
::[Tina m Garcia]: really long hair and it always
smelled really good. It just, it must've been
598
::[Tina m Garcia]: her,
599
::[Robb]: For me, it's the, if we're gonna go down
600
::[Tina m Garcia]: her shampoo.
601
::[Robb]: to like that shower smell or that thing
that really kind of rocks you, was Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo.
602
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
603
::[Robb]: And like, because I think I remember,
obviously you remember it as a child, but I think the first time you have a baby
604
::[Robb]: or you have a child and you're in the tub
or you're in the shower and you use Johnson & Johnson,
605
::[Robb]: it's like, holy crap. All these things
come like flooding back to your head.
606
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
607
::[Robb]: It's like a shower thought overload
where you're just like, oh yeah, like it totally
608
::[Robb]: brought me back to, I used to live in
Selmar growing up. And it's funny, I don't
609
::[Robb]: have a lot of memories before eight
years old.
610
::[Tina m Garcia]: Hmm.
611
::[Robb]: It's the weirdest thing. And my parents
got divorced at eight, so maybe it's a coping
612
::[Robb]: mechanism.
613
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
614
::[Robb]: but I really don't have many thoughts
before that. But things like that bring me
615
::[Robb]: back to like being in this house and
616
::[Tina m Garcia]: Oh yeah.
617
::[Robb]: getting wrapped up in a towel by my
mom,
618
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm.
619
::[Robb]: getting out of the tub or getting out
of the, like getting out of one of my first
620
::[Robb]: showers where like, you know, my parents
were on the outside of the shower, like everything
621
::[Robb]: okay in there? Everything okay in there?
Cause I was like little, you know, or,
622
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
623
::[Robb]: but I remember, you know, obviously,
your first couple of years of showering alone were Johnson & Johnson because you didn't want to get
624
::[Robb]: no shit in your eyeballs and burn them out. So I think those are the things that are my things of
or my big shower thoughts. Mostly when I first started bathing my kid where it was like a punch
625
::[Robb]: in the face of like memories. And then I remember getting in afterwards like to shower myself and
626
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah
627
::[Robb]: the resonance of that baby shampoo would
628
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
629
::[Robb]: would come back up right back into the
shower again and you know, shower thoughts
630
::[Robb]: again.
631
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah. Or what about when you
have the music going? Because I always get
632
::[Tina m Garcia]: ready with the music blaring.
I need
633
::[Robb]: Right?
634
::[Tina m Garcia]: that to get pumped up for my
day.
635
::[Robb]: That's my boy.
636
::[Tina m Garcia]: And you hear a song and it
reminds you of somebody. And so then they're
637
::[Tina m Garcia]: on your mind and you remember
like stupid things you did or something
638
::[Robb]: Ah.
639
::[Tina m Garcia]: they said or
640
::[Robb]: Mmm.
641
::[Tina m Garcia]: you know, just I don't know.
There's so many times I've done that where
642
::[Tina m Garcia]: the song will remind me of
somebody and then the shower is thinking or
643
::[Tina m Garcia]: reliving like pieces of my
life that went on with that particular person.
644
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm. That happens
645
::[Tina m Garcia]: For
646
::[Robb]: to me
647
::[Tina m Garcia]: sure. A lot,
648
::[Robb]: all the time,
649
::[Tina m Garcia]: right? That's
650
::[Robb]: all
651
::[Tina m Garcia]: why
652
::[Robb]: the
653
::[Tina m Garcia]: I
654
::[Robb]: time.
655
::[Tina m Garcia]: said, can you see her face?
Because when I, my next door neighbor friend,
656
::[Tina m Garcia]: when we went to Target one
day, I was, we go through every aisle because
657
::[Tina m Garcia]: I was just trying to get her
out of the house. She was losing her mind.
658
::[Tina m Garcia]: And we're going down every
aisle. Well, we went down the fragrance aisle
659
::[Tina m Garcia]: and I'm going to date myself,
but back in the day, it used to be Jacquard
660
::[Tina m Garcia]: Noir that all the guys wore,
right? It was like the cool thing to wear.
661
::[Robb]: Hey, just
662
::[Tina m Garcia]: And
663
::[Robb]: so
664
::[Tina m Garcia]: we
665
::[Robb]: you
666
::[Tina m Garcia]: were.
667
::[Robb]: know, I have Drakkar in there because
a friend of mine down the street, that's her
668
::[Robb]: favorite thing and she got me some.
And now I wear it all the time.
669
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yep.
670
::[Robb]: To this day.
671
::[Tina m Garcia]: Well, I got to tell you when
I always say, when I smell it, it makes my
672
::[Tina m Garcia]: knees weak because it does
take me back to two people in particular that
673
::[Tina m Garcia]: always were that, that I was
so in love with back in the day. And, um, so
674
::[Tina m Garcia]: I sprayed it. I was like, Ooh,
so I sprayed it and, and my friend walked through
675
::[Tina m Garcia]: it and she goes, Oh Tina, Oh
my God. I'm like, do you
676
::[Robb]: I'm going
677
::[Tina m Garcia]: see
678
::[Robb]: to go
679
::[Tina m Garcia]: his
680
::[Robb]: to
681
::[Tina m Garcia]: face?
682
::[Robb]: bed.
683
::[Tina m Garcia]: And she's like, I do. I do
see his face. And we were laughing and joking
684
::[Tina m Garcia]: around. Then we look over and
there's two guys that are in the aisle with
685
::[Tina m Garcia]: us just laughing at everything
we're saying. And I embarrassed her completely.
686
::[Tina m Garcia]: But it was crazy how that smell
took us back to that time with that music.
687
::[Tina m Garcia]: And we could go, I could remember
what I was wearing. I could remember like what
688
::[Tina m Garcia]: I said. I could remember how
it went. It's amazing from one squirt of one,
689
::[Tina m Garcia]: like cologne.
690
::[Robb]: Yeah, well, and like you said, music,
I think music's my downfall.
691
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
692
::[Robb]: So if I'm in the shower and listening
to music, and I don't do it very often, because
693
::[Robb]: of course I shower at the Ascrakadon,
694
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
695
::[Robb]: so it would have to be a weekend. But
yeah, music to me is the killer, because yeah,
696
::[Robb]: and I do remember, I remember a certain
thing that happened, mostly like, I was with
697
::[Robb]: somebody in the shower and it was the
first time that I remember them like not having
698
::[Robb]: makeup on or
699
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
700
::[Robb]: you know, because we were getting ready
to go somewhere. And it was one of those things
701
::[Robb]: where she was kind of like real timid
and I was like, no, that's okay. Like being,
702
::[Robb]: be you like hair wet and like just the,
the first time that you realize that like Sure,
703
::[Robb]: they're super pretty anyway, but then
you see them who they really are and they're
704
::[Robb]: prettier. You
705
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
706
::[Robb]: know what I mean? Because we all love
women with makeup because makeup is, it's that
707
::[Robb]: one thing, but to see someone raw and
then, I think you fall for that, that person,
708
::[Robb]: and then the beauty is just the positive.
Because the cake is great. You put
709
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
710
::[Robb]: a little frosting on it, sure it's better,
I like cake anyway. So,
711
::[Tina m Garcia]: Right? I get
712
::[Robb]: so it's
713
::[Tina m Garcia]: it.
714
::[Robb]: one of those things where you're right.
Like, and I'm a, I'm a song person. I listen
715
::[Robb]: to music a lot. So
716
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
717
::[Robb]: yeah, I can be, I can be taken back
to certain instances. And yeah, it was weird.
718
::[Robb]: Like I was driving the other day in
a part of town that I hadn't been in quite
719
::[Robb]: a while and I drove past a place that
I had dinner with someone and hung out, and
720
::[Robb]: then a hotel that we stayed at that
I hadn't really driven by in years, and I mean
721
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
722
::[Robb]: years, and it was like a punch in the
dick. I was just like, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh
723
::[Robb]: yeah. Like, it was really bizarre. So
I can see how that music in the shower can
724
::[Robb]: spark such a memory
725
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
726
::[Robb]: that It's like a flood. And mostly if
it's about that one person that just was everything
727
::[Robb]: to you at one point in your life.
728
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
729
::[Robb]: It's really easy to be taken to that.
730
::[Tina m Garcia]: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.
That's also, you know, a lot of my shower thoughts
731
::[Tina m Garcia]: are almost like prayers, like
I think about what's going on with my people,
732
::[Tina m Garcia]: you know, my friends, my family,
my brother, the kids, like, my dad, I think
733
::[Tina m Garcia]: about in the morning, like
there's a there's like a, I don't know, maybe
734
::[Tina m Garcia]: a meditative state or where
I'm praying, it just depends on the day. And
735
::[Tina m Garcia]: I do it in the shower, because
again, that's my time where my brain floats
736
::[Tina m Garcia]: and does what it needs to do
uninterrupted.
737
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
738
::[Tina m Garcia]: And so, you know, I don't get
out of the phone or get out to answer the phone
739
::[Tina m Garcia]: or to do the text messages.
Like that is the only freaking time I have
740
::[Tina m Garcia]: to myself. Like the only time.
So that's also my time to like say my prayers
741
::[Tina m Garcia]: or to like kind of put some
thought out for, you know, certain people that
742
::[Tina m Garcia]: are going through stuff. That's
the time that I take to have all those thoughts
743
::[Tina m Garcia]: too.
744
::[Robb]: I would probably tell you it's a very
common place to talk to God.
745
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah, for sure.
746
::[Robb]: for sure
747
::[Tina m Garcia]: For sure.
748
::[Robb]: because it's that one time where you
can whatever
749
::[Tina m Garcia]: uninterrupted.
750
::[Robb]: you're, well, and whatever, like you're
in this relaxed state
751
::[Tina m Garcia]: Well, the
752
::[Robb]: and.
753
::[Tina m Garcia]: water, you're constantly, you
can feel your whole body at the same time because
754
::[Tina m Garcia]: the water is going down your
755
::[Robb]: Mm-hmm.
756
::[Tina m Garcia]: body. So it makes you very
aware of your own self, which starts that whole
757
::[Tina m Garcia]: process for me.
758
::[Robb]: Sure, well and then I think the sound,
759
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm
760
::[Robb]: that very, just, it's a relaxing, like
running water is a very relaxing sound, whether
761
::[Robb]: it's a shower
762
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
763
::[Robb]: or a river or the ocean. So, and I think
that's been embedded in a sense, the dawn of
764
::[Robb]: man, right, because we've
765
::[Tina m Garcia]: right?
766
::[Robb]: lived by water. So, I think a lot of
that where you, doing your thing and you're
767
::[Robb]: listening and doing this and doing that.
And that is probably where it's a very much
768
::[Robb]: more common place to, like you said,
say a prayer or start going, hey, look, you
769
::[Robb]: know, can you help me out a little bit?
Like,
770
::[Tina m Garcia]: Right?
771
::[Robb]: I'm going through this time or my friend
is going through this time. Can you give them
772
::[Robb]: a little... a little, everything's going
to be okay. So
773
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
774
::[Robb]: I can totally understand that. And I
think that again, it's a, it's a place of solace
775
::[Robb]: where you
776
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
777
::[Robb]: are alone and there's, and I hate to
say there's no judgment because it's a shower,
778
::[Robb]: but there isn't, because you're, you're
just doing your thing. And, and I think that
779
::[Robb]: those are important times. And,
780
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
781
::[Robb]: and, and to me, uh, I think they're
a little more Common for people who have time
782
::[Robb]: like if you do have time Like that's
why baths are such a relaxing thing because
783
::[Robb]: I think people if you have the time
to take one That's why people put special shit
784
::[Robb]: in the water and have candles and kind
of go into a meditative state
785
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm,
786
::[Robb]: I
787
::[Tina m Garcia]: drink
788
::[Robb]: find
789
::[Tina m Garcia]: a box of wine.
790
::[Robb]: Drink a box of wine. I mean shit. I
used to know people who who I mean, they had
791
::[Robb]: issues but would drink beers in the
shower in the morning.
792
::[Tina m Garcia]: My brother says that the shower
beer is the most indulgent thing he he just
793
::[Tina m Garcia]: that's like his his favorite
thing is
794
::[Robb]: See, that's wild. I mean,
795
::[Tina m Garcia]: a shower
796
::[Robb]: I've
797
::[Tina m Garcia]: beer.
798
::[Robb]: never.
799
::[Tina m Garcia]: So I did it with marijuana
once I was like well I'm not really a drinker
800
::[Tina m Garcia]: but I'll smoke
801
::[Robb]: Right?
802
::[Tina m Garcia]: a joint and so I got in the
shower and I had my ex bring me a joint and
803
::[Tina m Garcia]: he was talking to me in the
in the bathroom anyway while I was taking the
804
::[Tina m Garcia]: shower. And we smoked a joint
together and I called my brother. I'm like,
805
::[Tina m Garcia]: you're right. Like that
806
::[Robb]: Yeah.
807
::[Tina m Garcia]: was a good, that was a good
place because it totally helped me relax.
808
::[Robb]: Right,
809
::[Tina m Garcia]: It was
810
::[Robb]: and you're
811
::[Tina m Garcia]: amazing.
812
::[Robb]: like hot-boxing yourself.
813
::[Tina m Garcia]: Well, the fan
814
::[Robb]: You know
815
::[Tina m Garcia]: was
816
::[Robb]: what I mean?
817
::[Tina m Garcia]: on, but yeah, kind of.
818
::[Robb]: But I mean,
819
::[Tina m Garcia]: I was like in a
820
::[Robb]: it's,
821
::[Tina m Garcia]: little bubble.
822
::[Robb]: yeah, because that steam is bringing
everything right back up. I'm sure it's, you
823
::[Robb]: know, and I'm sure that's probably the
whole thing with if you had
824
::[Tina m Garcia]: Hehehehe
825
::[Robb]: a cold, an ice-cold beer
826
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
827
::[Robb]: in a super hot shower, it's
828
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
829
::[Robb]: probably that yin and yang of like,
you're enjoying the heat and the water on you,
830
::[Robb]: and then you're sucking one back there
just like to cool your right back down. So
831
::[Robb]: I'm sure there's something to that.
832
::[Tina m Garcia]: I don't know, I'd have to ask
my brother again what he actually said, but
833
::[Tina m Garcia]: he would say sometimes, he
goes, it might be shower bear time.
834
::[Robb]: Yeah, I mean, I know I've sat in a tub,
you know, listening to music with a Coke, like
835
::[Robb]: an ice cold,
836
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
837
::[Robb]: you know. And so I get it, like when
you're just sweating up a storm in the tub
838
::[Robb]: and you're drinking to, you know, just
do your thing. So I can see the relaxing behind
839
::[Robb]: a shower beer. Unfortunately, my friend
was doing it because he had to cope and he
840
::[Robb]: was doing it to... get along with the
day, so. But yeah, I can get that. Those are,
841
::[Robb]: again, just as much a shower thought
than
842
::[Tina m Garcia]: Very much so.
843
::[Robb]: just us getting in. So I would love
to know how many people use that as a form
844
::[Robb]: of therapy. Because I bet you it's a
little more.
845
::[Robb]: use than we think. And again, not like
real therapy, but definitely a therapeutic
846
::[Robb]: process when you're
847
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
848
::[Robb]: in the morning and you're doing your
thing and whatever you need to get out in the
849
::[Robb]: morning, you get out. And I think that
it's an important time for both morning and
850
::[Robb]: evening. Like I said, I'm becoming way
more of an evening shower taker, I love to
851
::[Robb]: get out of the shower, just kind of.
after a shit long day of being, you know, whatever
852
::[Robb]: it is. And then just, it totally relaxes
every muscle in me to hit the sack. So, and
853
::[Robb]: then again,
854
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
855
::[Robb]: if I get a couple of good thoughts out
of it and I get an idea or decide, you know,
856
::[Robb]: sometimes a shower's a good place to
make a decision in life.
857
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
858
::[Robb]: Whether you think... whether you think
it's a good idea or not, sometimes the best
859
::[Robb]: ideas for me have, or problems that
I've solved have been inside the four walls
860
::[Robb]: of a shower. And I know that sounds
crazy, but I've got out of the shower and go,
861
::[Robb]: yeah, I'm not doing this anymore.
862
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm
863
::[Robb]: And it's crazy how many times I've probably
done that in my life. But it's been more than
864
::[Robb]: a handful, and I've
865
::[Tina m Garcia]: Oh,
866
::[Robb]: made
867
::[Tina m Garcia]: I'm sure.
868
::[Robb]: life-changing decisions. life-changing
869
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
870
::[Robb]: to where I was like, yeah, I'm gonna
do this. I'm moving here. I'm going this, I'm
871
::[Robb]: gonna do this. And just like, wow. So
I think it's an important thing. And I think
872
::[Robb]: more people than we think are doing
it. I think I'm gonna ask more after the show
873
::[Robb]: comes out. I'm gonna kinda, I'm gonna
say, hey, listen to this pod and then tell
874
::[Robb]: me your shower story or your shower
thought. I'd like to see if there's more people
875
::[Robb]: like me than I think. Because you're
876
::[Tina m Garcia]: and
877
::[Robb]: probably
878
::[Tina m Garcia]: see how
879
::[Robb]: right,
880
::[Tina m Garcia]: it goes.
881
::[Robb]: it's probably a very small percentage.
But even if it's 10% of the people that are
882
::[Robb]: having these, you know, it's not just
jump in, wash your shit, and get out. So, I
883
::[Robb]: don't know. I think it'll be fun, you
know. on this Wednesday when it comes out and
884
::[Robb]: I'm going to ask a bunch of friends
to go, Hey, I want you to listen to this 45
885
::[Robb]: minutes of show and then tell me what
your shower thought is. Cause I have so many
886
::[Robb]: of them, Tina, I couldn't even, like
I said, I've
887
::[Tina m Garcia]: Oh
888
::[Robb]: made.
889
::[Tina m Garcia]: God, how do you not? When you
said shower thoughts, I'm like, where do I
890
::[Tina m Garcia]: start?
891
::[Robb]: Exactly, because there's so, so many.
Because it's just a place where you can, like
892
::[Robb]: I said, just be you, cry if you have
to, scream if you have to. And sometimes you
893
::[Robb]: gotta do that. If you're home alone,
I've been in a shower where I had to belt it
894
::[Robb]: out to where I was just like, fuck!
And sometimes then you get out and you're like,
895
::[Robb]: woo, all right, let's go get a burger.
896
::[Tina m Garcia]: I wish it was that easy.
897
::[Robb]: Yeah, I mean, I don't think it's ever
that easy. I mean, but
898
::[Tina m Garcia]: Mm-hmm.
899
::[Robb]: sometimes it's easy in the moment where
you're trying not to think about something
900
::[Robb]: again. Because my mind, it is in overdrive
nine times out of 10. And when I can have a
901
::[Robb]: thought that's not in that direction,
it's a good one, so.
902
::[Tina m Garcia]: Yeah.
903
::[Robb]: And a matter of fact, you know, I'm
going to be a hopping in there. Not too long
904
::[Robb]: from a
905
::[Tina m Garcia]: Me
906
::[Robb]: this recording.
907
::[Tina m Garcia]: too, as a
908
::[Robb]: So
909
::[Tina m Garcia]: matter of fact, as soon as
I get off this recording, it's going to
910
::[Robb]: yeah,
911
::[Tina m Garcia]: happen.
912
::[Robb]: I think so. I'm going to,
913
::[Tina m Garcia]: And it
914
::[Robb]: I'm
915
::[Tina m Garcia]: looks
916
::[Robb]: going
917
::[Tina m Garcia]: like it's about time.
918
::[Robb]: to. Yeah, that is, Oh, look at you.
That was, that's a segue. That was very well
919
::[Robb]: done.
920
::[Tina m Garcia]: And you're welcome.
921
::[Robb]: And, and, and you're getting way better
at this podcasting thing
922
::[Tina m Garcia]: Am I?
923
::[Robb]: segue. You just did a segue, Tina.
924
::[Tina m Garcia]: I know, what the hell?
925
::[Robb]: It only took 95 episodes to start doing
segues. So,
926
::[Tina m Garcia]: Well, lo and behold, I finally
got it.
927
::[Robb]: that's it. Knock that one out of the,
928
::[Tina m Garcia]: I'm a slow learner, but
929
::[Robb]: that's
930
::[Tina m Garcia]: I got
931
::[Robb]: right.
932
::[Tina m Garcia]: there.
933
::[Robb]: So your shower thought for today should
be how I'm gonna do segues from now on.
